About the role#
CHS Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist/Industrial Hygienist Intern for the Summer 2026 term. Based at our refinery in Laurel, Montana, you will work with our Health and Safety staff to support regulatory compliance programs. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Identify hazards and resolve basic safety issues.
- Use computer systems and spreadsheets to track, monitor, and analyze safety data.
- Prepare comprehensive reports based on your data analysis.
- Collaborate with the refinery safety department.
- Interact with management, employees, union personnel, and contractors.
- Participate in safety meetings and occasionally present safety topics.
- Plan and organize safety issues that affect employees and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your Sophomore or Junior year in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Nursing, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.6 or better.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and analytical skills.
- Preference is given to candidates with a 3.0 GPA or higher and previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
