About the role#
The University of Virginia media relations team is hiring a student intern to manage the production cycle of our twice-weekly media newsletter. This role sits at the intersection of traditional and digital media, providing direct experience with university media relations. You will own the creation and execution of the newsletter while supporting strategic list management and subscriber development. This position is ideal for a student who enjoys refining processes and delivering work on a consistent schedule.
What you'll do#
- Produce and distribute the twice-weekly UVA Media Advisory newsletter, including drafting, editing, and formatting.
- Maintain and improve the media contact listserv by researching, organizing, and updating contacts.
- Monitor engagement trends and suggest improvements to newsletter performance.
- Brainstorm and test creative ways to help journalists scan and discover relevant stories.
- Collaborate with a broad array of UVA experts across various topic areas.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at the University of Virginia.
- A long-term interest in public universities, public relations, and digital marketing.
- A track record of drawing energy from regular production cycles.
- Basic proficiency or the ability to learn email marketing software.
- A collaborative mindset and a preference for working in team settings.
