About the role#
The AV/Lighting Technician supports the Student Union auditorium by managing audio-visual and lighting operations. This role works closely with the Building Manager to facilitate events for student organizations, university departments, and external groups. You will serve as the primary technical liaison, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and ready for use while assisting in the training and supervision of the tech team.
What you'll do#
- Serve as the on-site liaison for event AV and lighting requirements.
- Create lighting scripts tailored to client needs and project specifications.
- Operate audio-visual and lighting equipment during technical rehearsals and live performances.
- Assist with the setup and operation of all auditorium technology systems.
- Maintain the audio-visual inventory, including sound systems, video equipment, and lighting hardware.
- Perform or arrange for the installation, repair, and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Stay current with new auditorium technology and provide recommendations for equipment upgrades and purchases.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or GED (Associate degree or relevant certifications are preferred).
- At least 1 year of professional experience in AV and lighting (3 years preferred).
- Proficiency in sound, lighting, and technology systems.
- Technical skills in lighting and sound design and operation.
- Experience with ETC lighting software and Pro Presenter software is preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship.
