About the role#
The Student Staff Experience Coordinator supports the RecSports Department by managing the orientation, development, appreciation, and evaluation of over 400 student employees. This role focuses on enhancing student career readiness and fostering a strong staff community within the Division of Student Life.
What you'll do#
- Supervise the RecSports Employee Council and provide direction for all council initiatives.
- Recruit, hire, train, and oversee student employees.
- Develop and implement a robust training and development program tailored to career readiness competencies.
- Design and implement a comprehensive orientation program for new hires.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with university-mandated training and manage the renewal process for student staff.
- Establish and oversee an evaluation process to assess student skills development.
- Collaborate with the assistant director to establish and monitor key performance indicators for the student staff program.
- Coordinate three key department signature events and manage student staff apparel needs.
- Manage alumni engagement efforts to foster mentorship and support for current students.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience working with students or student groups in a university campus recreation program or human resources within a college setting.
- Knowledge of supervising and programming recreation facilities.
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies and prioritize multiple responsibilities in time-sensitive situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in PC and Mac operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, exercise good judgment, and lead with confidence.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship.

- Compensation: Anticipated hiring range of $48,000 to $52,000.
