About the role#
The Student Staff Experience Coordinator supports the RecSports Department by managing the orientation, development, appreciation, and evaluation of over 400 student employees. This role focuses on enhancing career readiness and fostering a strong staff community within the university campus recreation program.
What you'll do#
- Supervise the RecSports Employee Council and provide direction for council initiatives.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, and oversight of student employees.
- Design and implement a comprehensive orientation program and a robust training curriculum to enhance career readiness.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with university-mandated training and manage the renewal process for all student staff.
- Establish and oversee an evaluation process to assess skills development and competency acquisition.
- Collaborate with the assistant director to establish and monitor key performance indicators for the student staff program.
- Coordinate three key department signature events and manage the selection, purchasing, and distribution of student staff apparel.
- Manage alumni engagement efforts to foster mentorship and ongoing support for current students.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience working with students or student groups in a university campus recreation program, or experience in human resources within a college setting.
- Knowledge of supervising and programming recreation facilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse constituencies, delegate tasks, and prioritize work in time-sensitive situations.
- Proficiency in PC and Mac operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship.

- Compensation: Anticipated hiring range of $48,000 to $52,000.
