About the role#
The Senior Associate Director of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships provides operational leadership within the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This role manages multiple functional areas, supervises staff, and contributes to strategic priorities while ensuring operational practices align with institutional goals. The position requires independent judgment in personnel management, daily operations, and problem resolution within established regulatory frameworks.
What you'll do#
- Provide oversight of institutional, foundation, and departmental scholarship operations to ensure alignment with donor requirements and enrollment objectives.
- Assist the Director in the administration and oversight of federal Title IV financial aid programs, including awarding, disbursement, and reconciliation.
- Develop and monitor internal controls and operational procedures to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
- Supervise professional and support staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and workload distribution.
- Partner with campus stakeholders such as the Registrar, Bursar, and Academic Affairs to resolve complex issues and support coordinated service delivery.
- Ensure the delivery of responsive, accurate, and student-centered financial aid services.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
- Significant progressively responsible experience in financial aid, scholarships, or student services.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing multiple functional areas.
- Working knowledge of financial aid operations and program administration.
- Familiarity with federal Title IV programs and systems is preferred.
- Experience in a public higher education environment is preferred.
