About the role#
The Operational Technology (OT) Infrastructure Student Developer supports the maintenance, development, and modernization of the University of South Florida's SCADA and Building Automation Systems (BAS). You will gain practical experience in industrial automation, software development, system integration, and infrastructure monitoring while working within a collaborative Agile and Scrum team.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the migration of building automation and HVAC systems from Alerton to the Tridium Niagara framework.
- Configure and integrate field devices, controllers, and equipment into the Niagara platform.
- Develop and maintain graphical user interface (GUI) pages and system visualizations.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) testing to verify functionality, accuracy, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues within SCADA and Building Automation Systems.
- Monitor and maintain operational technology infrastructure.
- Validate device data, alarms, trends, and system performance metrics.
- Document configurations, testing procedures, and implementation processes.
- Participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies.
- Collaborate with engineers, developers, and field technicians.
- Apply industry best practices related to operational technology, industrial controls, and system integration.
- Provide technical support for infrastructure modernization initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a USF student.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of general office experience.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Saint Petersburg, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Part-time, rolling term.
- Compensation: Paid position at $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, flexible around classes between 8AM and 5PM.
