About the role#
The WELL at Sacramento State is hiring a Student Supervisor of Recreation Operations. This role oversees Recreation Operation Attendants and manages daily operations at the Equipment, Fitness, and Retreat desks. You will handle staff scheduling, inventory, lost and found items, and policy enforcement while maintaining a professional environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
- Drive team engagement through feedback and clear communication.
- Manage staff schedules, including assigning shifts and coordinating coverage.
- Monitor daily tasks and ensure operational procedures are followed.
- Conduct weekly inventory counts for retail items, equipment, and uniforms.
- Resolve equipment issues and manage the Informal Recreation schedule.
- Oversee the Lost and Found process, including logging and disposing of items.
- Enforce facility policies and respond to injuries or emergencies with proper documentation.
- Provide customer service and assist with member inquiries.
- Plan and attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Analyze current operations to suggest future improvements.
What you'll need#
- Customer service experience and a desire to work in a team-based recreation setting.
- Professional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions.
- Experience with Excel spreadsheets, databases, and office support tasks.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (must be completed within 60 days of hire).
- Current Sacramento State student enrollment (minimum 9 units for undergraduates or 6 units for graduates).
- Preferred: Current WELL student employee, prior supervisory experience, point of sale experience, or inventory management experience.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California (On-site).
- Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, including availability for at least 4 hours during peak times (5pm-8pm) and a minimum of 4 days per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour.
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods.
