About the role#
The Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) within the Department of General Services is looking for a student assistant to support the Federal Surplus Personal Property Program (FSPP). You will work under the supervision of a lead staff member to gain practical experience in government surplus property management. This role involves learning daily operations related to vendor applications, compliance, and property servicing while developing an understanding of state laws and programs.
What you'll do#
- Review incoming applications for completeness and accuracy to ensure FSPP compliance.
- Enter, update, and maintain data in federal surplus databases and Microsoft applications.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for the front door and main phone line, greeting visitors and routing calls.
- Organize and compile program documents for the FSPP.
- Handle courier services in the Sacramento and West Sacramento areas using a state vehicle.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Ability to meet minimum unit requirements for undergraduate or graduate classifications.
- Major in Business Administration or Public Administration.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Sacramento, California.
- Work is performed on-site in an office and warehouse environment.
- This is a part-time, temporary, and non-benefited role.
- The schedule is flexible, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
