About the role#
The State Controller's Office is hiring a student assistant to join the Organizational Change Management (OCM) Unit. You will work under the supervision of the OCM Readiness and Communications Program Chiefs to support the California State Payroll System (CSPS). This position offers the opportunity to gain experience with CRM database tools, organizational change management principles, and professional communication strategies.
What you'll do#
- Support the execution of CSPS OCM plans and assist in the development and tracking of communication effectiveness.
- Assist Readiness Managers with the OCM Customer Relationship Management tool and manage data assignment workflows.
- Review and scrub documents to remove sensitive personal information.
- Upload final assets to the repository and maintain template branding for consistency.
- Test system functionality and support ongoing platform improvements.
- Maintain email lists and deploy bulk communications.
- Ensure platform announcements and repository access permissions remain current.
- Collaborate with project teams to produce, brand, and distribute communication materials.
- Coordinate meeting logistics and prepare presentation materials for state stakeholder groups.
- Monitor campaign effectiveness and update landing pages, video content, and marketing collateral.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate (minimum 12 units) or graduate student (minimum 8 semester units or 12 quarter units).
- Major in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and the ability to prepare clear emails, memorandums, and reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties.
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in response to changing workloads.
- Initiative, self-motivation, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle deadline-driven projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of public administration and executive communication principles.
- Experience with purpose-driven writing and the ability to translate complex financial information into plain language.
