About the role#
The Cal/OSHA Enforcement Unit in Goleta is looking for two student assistants to help with daily operations. You will support the team in documenting safety inspections, managing technical data, and handling public inquiries. This is a part-time, temporary position that provides hands-on experience with state safety regulations and compliance procedures.
What you'll do#
- Prepare compliance reports and document inspection findings.
- Accompany compliance inspectors during on-site visits.
- Adjust and calibrate technical field devices used for measuring.
- Complete inspection forms and organize case files.
- Intake complaints and accident reports from the public via phone, email, and in-person visits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited university.
- Minimum enrollment of six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduate students.
- A declared major in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or Physics, Biology, or Public Health.
- Ability to work in California for the duration of your employment.

- Location: Santa Barbara, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Status: Part-time, non-benefited position.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM, with hours determined by your supervisor.
