About the role#
The CAD/Modeling Technician Intern will join the Hoffman Layout and Modeling team, reporting directly to the VDC team. This internship provides hands-on experience in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and reality capture. You will work alongside VDC team members and field personnel to support job site projects. This is an on-site role designed to help you apply classroom learning to real construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Receive, process, and archive point cloud files from field project team members.
- Compile, register, and publish point cloud data using Leica Register 360.
- Interpret point clouds, construction documents, and survey data to create accurate 2D and 3D maps and models.
- Verify point cloud and model accuracy to survey control.
- Create conceptual models, photorealistic renders, and fly-throughs for project and marketing initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Ability to perform data analysis, transcription, and digital documentation.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Ability to work in an office setting and occasionally move about construction sites.
