About the role#
Hoffman Construction Company is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Seattle, Washington. You will work directly on the jobsite for 40 hours per week, assisting project teams with tasks ranging from preconstruction through project closeout.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate site logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and field inspections.
- Interpret blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Perform field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
- Manage quality control, estimating, BIM/VDC, and document control.
- Receive and distribute requests for information and change documents.
- Act as a technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree.
- Educational background in materials and methods of construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with critical path method scheduling software, specifically Suretrack Project Manager and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
- Familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Ability to lift and carry documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access all areas and levels of a construction site for work progress reviews.
