About the role#
The CAD/Modeling Technician Intern joins the Hoffman Layout and Modeling team, reporting to the VDC group. This internship provides hands-on experience with Virtual Design and Construction and reality capture projects. You will work alongside field personnel and VDC team members to apply classroom learning to laser scanning, point cloud processing, BIM, and 3D modeling tasks. This is an on-site position based in Boise, Idaho.
What you'll do#
- Receive, process, and archive point cloud files from field project team members.
- Compile, register, and publish point cloud data using Leica Register 360.
- Interpret point clouds, construction documents, and survey data to create accurate 2D and 3D maps and models using Revit, Civil 3D, and Cyclone software.
- Verify point cloud and model accuracy to survey control.
- Create conceptual models, photorealistic renders, and fly-throughs to assist in marketing ventures.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position in an office environment more than 50% of the time.
- Ability to work in proximity to loud equipment and wear hearing protection as necessary.
- Mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a vehicle.
