About the role#
The WELL at Sacramento State is hiring two Health Coaches to support students, faculty, and staff. You will work in a client-centered process to help individuals build healthy lifestyle habits. This role focuses on motivational interviewing, behavior-change strategies, and accountability. You will help clients identify strengths and set goals for physical activity, stress management, and nutrition. Note that this position does not involve diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatment, or providing therapy.
What you'll do#
- Conduct individual or small-group health coaching sessions using behavior change strategies.
- Help clients create and track measurable wellness goals.
- Refer clients to other professionals, such as dietitians or mental health providers, when their needs fall outside your scope of practice.
- Develop and facilitate wellness workshops and campus events.
- Keep organized records of coaching sessions and client documentation.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Kinesiology, Public Health, Health Education, Nutrition, Psychology, or a related field OR a current Health Coach certification.
- If not currently certified, you must commit to obtaining certification within 90 days of starting.
- Previous experience working with clients in health, fitness, or wellness settings.
- Knowledge of behavior change science and motivational interviewing.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
- Work is on-site at The WELL.
- Shifts are available Monday through Saturday, with a maximum of 19.5 hours per week.
- Compensation is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.
