About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a Graduate Student Assistant to join the Substance and Addiction Prevention Branch. You will work with the State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) team to support fatal drug-related overdose surveillance. This position is open to current graduate students in fields such as Criminal Justice, Public Health, Economics, Psychology, Nursing, Sociology, and Biology.
What you'll do#
- Participate as a member of the SUDORS team.
- Abstract data from death certificates, coroner, toxicology, and autopsy reports.
- Enter information into the CDC secure cloud-based platform.
- Conduct quality control activities on previously abstracted data.
- Assist with other Epidemiology and Evaluation Unit activities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate student.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks accurately.
- Comfort working with sensitive, death-related data.
- Ability to perform in-person work at the Sacramento coroner's office.
- Access to a computer, reliable internet, and a secure workspace for remote tasks.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with both remote work and in-person requirements at the Sacramento coroner's office.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
- Compensation: $20.50 to $24.00 per hour.
- Status: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited.
