About the role#
United Veterinary Care hosts veterinary students for hands-on externships at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. This program allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a clinical setting. You will work alongside a team of over 50 doctors in a 26,000 square foot facility equipped with digital radiography, CT, MRI, and other advanced diagnostic tools. This role is paid and operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Provide hands-on patient care for dogs, cats, and exotics.
- Assist in surgical cases and dental procedures.
- Review cases with your supervising veterinarian to confirm exam findings and treatment plans.
- Engage in emergency and specialty medical services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Standing as a 3rd or 4th-year student.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Ability to participate in hands-on patient care.
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
