About the role#
This position is for a second-year student currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program. You will perform basic respiratory care treatments and procedures under the proximal supervision of a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. This is a part-time, PRN role within the Respiratory Care Services department.
What you'll do#
- Assess patients to determine cardiopulmonary status and implement appropriate care protocols.
- Administer supplemental oxygen and intermittent therapies, such as nebulizers and inhalers, as prescribed.
- Perform bronchopulmonary hygiene and airway clearance techniques, including chest physiotherapy, cough and deep breathing exercises, and the use of incentive spirometry or therapy vests.
- Monitor patients during the administration of all modalities.
- Document all procedures accurately and in real-time within the EPIC electronic medical record.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year student in an approved and accredited Respiratory Care program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in technical documentation.
- Preferred: ACLS or PALS certification.
Location & details#
- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rotating flexible hours, including 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts. The role requires four 12-hour shifts per six-week schedule.
