About the role#
As a Respiratory Care Therapist Student, you will perform basic respiratory care treatments and procedures. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. This role involves assessing patient cardiopulmonary status and implementing care protocols to improve patient health. You will work flexible shifts of 8, 10, or 12 hours.
What you'll do#
- Administer supplemental oxygen and intermittent therapies like nebulizers or inhalers as prescribed.
- Document all procedures accurately and in real-time within the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Monitor patients during the administration of all modalities.
- Implement airway clearance techniques, including chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, and cough techniques.
- Assess and follow established departmental patient care protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year student in an approved, accredited Respiratory Care Program.
- Basic Life Support Healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical proficiency and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- ACLS or PALS certification is preferred.
