About the role#
As a Respiratory Care Therapist Student, you will perform basic respiratory care treatments and procedures under the supervision of a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. This role involves assessing a patient's cardiopulmonary status and implementing care protocols to maintain or improve their hemodynamic status.
What you'll do#
- Administer supplemental oxygen and intermittent therapies such as nebulizers and inhalers as prescribed or via departmental protocols.
- Implement airway clearance techniques, including chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, and various therapy devices.
- Monitor patients during the administration of all respiratory modalities.
- Document all procedures accurately and in real-time within the EPIC electronic medical record.
- Assess and implement patient care protocols to support cardiopulmonary health.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year student in an approved and accredited Respiratory Care Program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in technical documentation.
- Ability to work flexible 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts.
