About the role#
As a Student Radiology Technologist Assistant at UChicago Medicine, you will join the Imaging Team to support patient care and technical operations. You will work under the direction of the Imaging Team Leader or a Registered Radiology Technologist to ensure the department runs efficiently. This is a part-time, on-site role based at the Hyde Park campus.
What you'll do#
- Prepare patients for radiographic testing and monitor their physical and psychological needs.
- Assist with image acquisition, film processing, and delivery into the PACS system.
- Set up and maintain clinical facilities, equipment, and inventory.
- Perform data entry, tracking, and scheduling within the Radiology Information System.
- Assist physicians and technologists with patient examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Coordinate patient transportation and communicate status changes to the clinical team.
- Initiate CPR during emergencies and assist with the orientation of new employees.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and collect data for research studies.
- Attend educational programs to build your clinical practice.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Radiology Program.
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR training (BLS training is recommended).
- Ability to perform tasks requiring continuous physical effort and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Hyde Park, Chicago, Illinois.
- Work Modality: 100% on-site.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, typically 20 hours per week, including alternating weekends.
- Status: Part-time, non-union position.
