About the role#
This position is for a second-year student currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care program. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide care and support to patients. This role is part-time, PRN, and requires working flexible shifts of 8, 10, or 12 hours.
What you'll do#
- Perform respiratory care treatments and procedures while supervised.
- Assess patients to determine their cardiopulmonary status.
- Implement patient care protocols to improve or maintain hemodynamic status.
- Administer supplemental oxygen based on physician orders or approved protocols.
- Provide intermittent therapy, such as small volume nebulizers and MDI, and monitor the patient during these sessions.
- Perform bronchopulmonary hygiene, including airway clearance techniques like chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, and the use of therapy vests or similar devices.
- Document all procedures and assessments accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record system.
What you'll need#
- Status as a second-year student in an approved Respiratory Care program with proof of continued enrollment.
- Current Basic Life Support Healthcare provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and technical documentation abilities.
- ACLS or PALS certification is preferred.
