About the role#
This is a 10-week paid internship where you rotate through key areas of property management. You will work alongside our professional teams at an assigned community. You will be mentored by a senior leader and work on real-world projects. This role provides hands-on experience in leasing, maintenance, operations, and management.
What you'll do#
- Practice sales techniques and support the leasing process.
- Perform marketing tasks, including in-house and offsite work and developing marketing analysis reports.
- Learn and use industry software programs.
- Participate in property tours and site visits.
- Learn maintenance management techniques, including processing maintenance requests.
- Complete market surveys and pre-inspections to ensure rent readiness.
- Process accounts receivable and review the financial move out process.
- Provide customer service and resolve resident complaints.
- Maintain digital and paper records, a community calendar, and provide clerical and phone support.
- Assist with legal eviction processes and practice critical resolution decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year accredited program, with a preference for Real Estate, Hospitality, or Property Management majors.
- Completion of sophomore year by the start of the internship is preferred.
- At least 1 year of work experience or extracurricular activity involvement.
- Ability to fluently read and write English and perform intermediate mathematical functions.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus general computer and internet skills.
- Strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
- A customer service orientation and a strong sales background.
- Knowledge of state law regarding fair housing.
- Ability to use on-site resident management software.
Location & details#
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time. Availability for some nights, weekends, and flexible hours is required.
- Compensation: $19 to $23 hourly.
