About the role#
This is a full-time, paid position for a student currently training to become a Surgical Technologist. You will work under the direct supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist to support patient care and safety in the perioperative setting. This role involves assisting the surgical team with room preparation and maintaining a clean, organized environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide age-specific patient care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Assist the RN Circulator and surgical team with room setup and equipment preparation.
- Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts during procedures.
- Help with equipment inspections and keep surgeon preference cards updated.
- Support the sterile surgical team with gowning and gloving.
- Practice safe operation of surgical equipment, including electrocautery safety.
- Monitor for breaks in aseptic technique and take immediate corrective action.
- Adhere to hospital safety policies and infection prevention standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Certified Surgical Technologist program.
- You must be within nine months of graduation.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required upon hire.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be accepted as an alternative to BLS.
