About the role#
As a Student Surgical Technologist, you will perform patient care activities and support services in the perioperative setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist to help meet the safety and comfort needs of patients. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Boise, Idaho.
What you'll do#
- Provide age-specific patient care for populations ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.
- Follow hospital safety policies and infection prevention standards.
- Operate surgical equipment and apply knowledge of electrocautery safety.
- Identify and correct breaks in aseptic technique.
- Inspect equipment and check for functionality before procedures.
- Update surgeon preference cards as directed.
- Assist the sterile surgical team with gowning and gloving, including performing open and closed gloving techniques.
- Participate in instrument, sponge, and sharps counts.
- Help the RN Circulator and the rest of the team set up the room and gather equipment.
- Keep the surgical environment clean, organized, and safe.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Certified Surgical Technologist program.
- Graduation date within nine months.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross upon hire.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be accepted in place of BLS.
