About the role#
This is a paid internship for students enrolled in a Charter School in the High Desert. You will work on-site at the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority to learn about water and wastewater utility operations. The term runs for 100 hours from September 21 to November 13, 2026, with a schedule of two days per week. College credit is available through a Victor Valley College Work Experience course.
What you'll do#
- Inventory and inspect safety gear including gas sniffers and PPE.
- Assist with routine mechanical maintenance such as oil changes and filter cleanings.
- Support pump teardown, part replacement, and drying bed maintenance.
- Assist in staging equipment for sewer or industrial site inspections.
- Support CCTV operations including camera setup and cable handling.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Charter School in the High Desert.
- Minimum age of 16 years old.
- Valid Right to Work documents.
- Interest in mechanical work, environmental science, or utilities.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and take direction from supervisors.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions.
- Ability to obtain a work permit.
