Description: This position is open to students enrolled in a Charter School in the High Desert ONLY!Location: Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA), 20111 Shay Rd., VictorvilleType: Paid InternshipSchedule: 100 hours, 2 days per week, September 21 - November 13, 2026College credit is available through a Victor Valley College Work Experience course.You must be 16 years old for the internship and have Right to Work documents.Position SummaryThis summer internship provides a unique opportunity for students interested in electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems to gain hands-on experience within a wastewater treatment facility. Interns will assist skilled technicians with a variety of support tasks that reinforce foundational E&I skills in real-world environments.Through supervised involvement in troubleshooting, calibration, monitoring, and documentation, interns will explore how electrical and control systems ensure safe and effective wastewater operations.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Systems SupportAssist with basic electrical troubleshooting in motors, pumps, and control panelsPerform safety checks on wiring and electrical componentsHelp with preventative maintenance such as cleaning and visual inspectionsInstrumentation & Control SystemsSupport calibration of flow meters, pH sensors, and pressure transducersObserve SCADA and PLC systems to understand monitoring and automationLog instrument readings and operational data for analysisMaintenance & Tool AssistanceAssist in replacing components like relays, fuses, and indicator lightsManage and organize tools used for E&I tasksDocument completed work in maintenance systemsOperational MonitoringLearn how to monitor alarms, dashboards, and performance indicatorsHelp identify and report unusual readings or potential equipment issuesAssist with recordkeeping and log formattingTechnical Documentation & Training SupportUpdate wiring diagrams, SOPs, and equipment documentationAssist with training content for new instruments or proceduresProject & Research ParticipationTake part in special projects such as instrument installations or system upgradesConduct guided research on new technologies or best practicesHelp prepare visual materials and summaries for internal presentationsQualificationsStrong interest in electronics, control systems, or environmental utilitiesMust be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructionsComfortable working in technical and industrial environments, indoor and outdoorAbility to obtain a work permit
