About the role#
This is a full-time internship with Walt Disney Imagineering. You will join the Show Systems team in Celebration, Florida, to assist in the design and production of audio-animatronic figures and show equipment. This position runs from January 2027 through June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical design tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Use surface modeling techniques to create organic shells and skins for animatronic figures.
- Support production teams by tracking floor changes.
- Assist across the engineering lifecycle, from initial concept development to final design.
- Gain practical knowledge in the design and engineering of animatronic systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with 3D design software such as Solidworks, Rhino, Fusion 360, Geomagic DesignX, ZBrush, Maya, or NTopology.
- Experience with 3D printing, 3D scanning, model making, or tooling design.
- Experience with engineering analysis software like Ansys.
- A portfolio showcasing your work is recommended.
