About the role#
KABC (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station in the Los Angeles media market. We are looking for an intern to join our technical team. You will participate in developmental programming and contribute to the daily operations of a major market television station. This role provides firsthand experience in a broadcast technology environment.
What you'll do#
- Network, deploy, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
- Perform preventative maintenance on broadcast automation and IP transmission systems.
- Provide resolution and troubleshooting for help desk requests.
- Install various technology systems at the station.
- Support remote productions, including remote newscasts and live community parades.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, preferably as a Junior or Senior.
- Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking, System Administration, Engineering, Radio/Television/Film, or a related field.
- Previous academic or work experience in television, technology, IT processes, troubleshooting, or problem solving.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, as operating a company vehicle is required.
- Ability to multitask with high attention to detail.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with unrestricted work authorization.
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
- Preferred experience includes computer building, imaging, help desk support, virtual/cloud computing, and network devices like switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Preferred familiarity with Adobe Premiere and broadcast television technical systems such as routers, encoders, and storage systems.
Location & details#
- Location: Glendale, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 through early June 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Availability for a Monday through Sunday schedule is required, which may include nights or weekends.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship at $18.47 per hour.
