About the role#
The OASiS program at The University of Tulsa hires students to serve as academic tutors for student-athletes. This role focuses on helping athletes balance their academic requirements with athletic commitments. You will work to support their success both in the classroom and on the field.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one or group tutoring sessions across various subjects.
- Help student-athletes develop effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills.
- Break down complex course materials and assignments into manageable components.
- Create test preparation strategies, including practice exams and review sessions.
- Offer guidance on essay structure, research methods, and writing proficiency.
- Track academic progress and communicate with advisors to address concerns.
- Ensure all support activities follow NCAA academic eligibility regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Psychology, Communications, Sociology, Political Science, or History.
- Ability to explain course concepts clearly to others.
- Strong organizational skills to monitor student progress and submit session reports.
- Understanding of academic support practices.
