About the role#
The Office of Institutional Analytics at The University of New Mexico offers a professional internship focused on data-informed decision-making and digital content review. This position provides hands-on training for recent graduates interested in institutional research, analytics, and higher education administration. You will work under the guidance of professional staff for a term of up to 24 months.
What you'll do#
- Review public dashboards and web content to ensure they meet WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines and institutional standards.
- Create action lists to document findings and suggest improvements.
- Coordinate a university-wide data community by managing event schedules, posting resources, and drafting discussion prompts for collaboration platforms.
- Attend leadership meetings to track tasks, take notes, and provide structured follow-up.
- Assist with logistics and communication for in-person and virtual data community events.
- Conduct research projects and prepare reports or summaries with recommendations.
- Participate in on-the-job training using tools like R, SAS, SQL, Python, Tableau, and Power BI.
What you'll need#

- Professional communication and project coordination skills.
- Comfort using data visualization and programming tools.
- Pursuit of a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
