About the role#
The 1:1 Individual Student Aide provides targeted support to students within the classroom environment. This full-time position involves working closely with instructors and clinical staff to ensure students receive the necessary academic, functional, and behavioral assistance outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role follows a school calendar with standard hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
What you'll do#
- Monitor assigned students to address academic, functional, behavioral, or safety needs as specified in the IEP.
- Prepare and adapt classroom materials and maintain an organized learning environment.
- Implement behavior program policies and accurately maintain required data.
- Communicate student concerns regarding social, emotional, or behavioral progress to clinical staff.
- Collaborate with administration and staff to ensure consistent application of academic and therapeutic programs.
- Support general school operations, including filling in as needed and maintaining student record confidentiality.
- Attend staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- Ability to work effectively with high-risk special needs students.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing routines and environments.
- Ability to operate tactfully and professionally under stress.
- Paraprofessional Certification is preferred but not required.
- Academic background in Psychology is a plus.
