About the role#
As a Teacher Intern at The Menta Education Group, you will work in a self-contained classroom setting at Harbourview Academy in Phoenix. You will manage a small group of approximately 10 students with the assistance of a paraprofessional. This position follows a 10-month school calendar with hours from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must be willing to return to a university to obtain a degree in Special Education to earn your teaching license.
What you'll do#
- Teach all subjects within your classroom.
- Create a differentiated and personalized learning environment for your students.
- Maintain a social-emotional learning environment using a P.B.I.S. structure.
- Collaborate with curriculum and clinical staff to support student progress.
- Engage with administrators and support staff for professional development.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- A valid General Education Teaching Certificate or a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or Health & Human Services.
- Experience working with students who have special education disabilities, such as autism, emotional disturbance, or cognitive and developmental disabilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask.
- A positive attitude and strong organizational skills.
