About the role#
As a Special Education Teacher Intern at The Menta Education Group, you will manage a small classroom of approximately 10 students in a self-contained setting. You will work within a social-emotional learning environment that utilizes inquiry-based academics and a P.B.I.S. structure. This is a full-time, paid position that requires a commitment to returning to a university to obtain a tuition-reimbursed degree in Special Education to earn your licensure.
What you'll do#
- Teach all subjects in a classroom setting while personalizing learning for diverse students.
- Provide a differentiated learning environment that supports social-emotional growth.
- Collaborate with curriculum and clinical staff to achieve positive student outcomes.
- Engage with special education curriculum and gain professional development from on-campus administrators and support staff.
- Utilize paraprofessional support within the classroom to manage student needs.
What you'll need#
- A valid General Education Teaching Certificate or a Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Psychology, Sociology, Health Administration, or Human Resources.
- Experience working with students who have special education disabilities, including autism, emotional disturbance, or cognitive and developmental disabilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to pursue Special Education Certification.
Location & details#
- Location: Southwest Academy, Phoenix, AZ.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., following a 10-month school calendar.
