About the role#
As a Special Education Teacher Intern at The Menta Education Group, you will educate a small classroom of approximately 10 students in a self-contained setting. You will work within a structured social-emotional learning environment that utilizes inquiry-based academics and a P.B.I.S. structure. This is a full-time, paid internship that requires a commitment to returning to a university to obtain a tuition-reimbursed degree in Special Education to achieve licensure.
What you'll do#
- Engage with special education curriculum to teach diverse learners.
- Teach all subjects in a classroom setting.
- Provide a differentiated and personalized learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum, clinical, and support staff to achieve positive student outcomes.
- Maintain a social-emotional learning environment with paraprofessional support.
What you'll need#
- A valid General Education Teaching Certificate or a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Psychology, Sociology, Health Administration, or Human Resources.
- Experience working with students with special education disabilities, including autism, emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, or cognitive and developmental disabilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay well-organized.
- A positive attitude.
Location & details#
- Location: Southwest Academy, Phoenix, Arizona.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., following a 10-month school calendar.
- Compensation: Paid position with 12-month semi-monthly pay.
