About the role#
As a Teacher Fellow, you will work alongside classroom teachers to help students gain the academic and character skills needed for college success. This role is designed to help you develop the skills necessary to transition into lead classroom positions while contributing to the culture and operations of the school.
What you'll do#
- Assist the lead teacher with preparing and delivering daily instructional activities.
- Work with small groups of students to reinforce skills and support academic progress.
- Help maintain a productive learning environment by encouraging positive behavior and consistent routines.
- Use assessment information to understand student needs and support intervention or enrichment as appropriate.
- Support a safe and orderly classroom by following school procedures and taking appropriate precautions.
- Uphold school expectations for student conduct and assist with implementing campus-wide policies.
- Maintain fairness and consistency when addressing student behavior.
- Communicate with students and families to address questions or concerns.
- Establish positive relationships with parents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Participate in outreach efforts that strengthen school-community connections.
- Engage in professional development sessions, team meetings, and staff committees.
- Maintain organized records and support classroom and school operations.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with under-resourced communities, families, or students.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management.
- A successful background check in compliance with state law (required).
- Majors in Psychology, Communications, Sociology, Political Science, or Public Health are preferred.
