Exceptional Student Services Teacher (Self-Contained Classroom)

About the role#

Pinon Unified School District is seeking an Exceptional Student Services Teacher for a self-contained classroom. This position focuses on providing instruction and support to students with exceptional needs, working alongside faculty and staff to foster academic and personal growth in a supportive learning environment.

What you'll do#

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with exceptional needs.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of behavior modification plans.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation regarding student progress and services provided.
• Collaborate with families and community agencies to support student achievement and well-being.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in required professional development activities.

What you'll need#

• Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field.
• Valid Arizona teaching certificate with endorsements in exceptional student services.
• Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing special education.
• Prior experience working with students with a variety of exceptionalities and disabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other teachers, staff, and families.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing student needs and situations.
