About the role#
The Investments Intern supports the financial underwriting and predevelopment phases of multifamily projects. You will help identify new sites, assess yield versus risk, and perform due diligence to minimize project risks. This role involves working closely with the investment team to evaluate potential developments and support various project types, including student housing, tax credit, and HUD financing.
What you'll do#
- Build and refine financial models to forecast investment returns and assess project feasibility.
- Analyze development and acquisition projects using Excel.
- Conduct due diligence research on rent, expenses, utilities, taxes, and pre-development fees.
- Prepare market analysis reports and demographic studies.
- Monitor US market trends regarding employment, impact fees, permits, and supply and demand.
- Assist the development and management teams with ad-hoc financial analysis and budget reviews.
- Support investment team members on daily tasks and projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in accounting, statistics, finance, mathematics, or a relevant field.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, including macro programming.
- Experience with PowerPoint and web search engines.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, positive attitude with a focus on detail and problem-solving.
