About the role#
The Investments Intern focuses on financial underwriting and pre-development for multifamily projects. You will support the team in identifying new development sites, assessing yield versus risk, and performing due diligence. This role involves analyzing data to minimize risk and forecasting investment returns for potential projects.
What you'll do#
- Identify new sites that meet development criteria.
- Build and refine financial models to forecast investment returns.
- Perform due diligence for potential developments, including research on rent, expenses, utilities, taxes, and fees.
- Prepare market and demographic analysis reports using internal databases, real estate software, and your own research.
- Interpret data related to land price, construction costs, economic influences, and investment-risk trends.
- Monitor US market trends regarding employment, impact fees, permits, and supply and demand.
- Assist the development and management teams with acquisitions, student housing, tax credit projects, HUD financing, and budgets.
- Support investment team members with ad-hoc financial analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks across several projects.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to support the team at all levels.
- Relentless problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate needs.
- A solid understanding of the difference between causation and correlation.
