About the role#
The HR Assistant role provides hands-on experience in a professional, faith-based environment. You will support the Human Resources team at the BYU-Pathway Worldwide headquarters while gaining practical skills in recruitment, onboarding, and business operations. This position is designed for students seeking to build a career in Human Resources, talent acquisition, or people leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support recruiting and hiring activities, including applicant communication, interview scheduling, and hiring processes.
- Assist with onboarding and employee transitions to help create a positive employee experience.
- Respond to employee and applicant questions in a timely, professional, and service-oriented manner.
- Review and maintain HR records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Handle confidential employee information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Assist with special projects, events, and process improvement initiatives.
- Support HR team goals through collaboration and reliable execution of assigned work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a Church Educational System institution (BYU, BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, Ensign College, or BYU-Pathway Worldwide).
- Residency in Utah.
- Availability to work up to 20 hours per week during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
- A customer-service mindset with a genuine desire to help others.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Previous customer service, administrative, or office experience is preferred.
- Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, or business systems is preferred.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- The role is hybrid, requiring 2-4 days of in-office work per week (Monday through Thursday).
- This is a part-time, paid student position.
