About the role#
The Sales & Management Internship provides an opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of retail operations, sales presentation, and merchandising. Interns work closely with the Store Manager to gain insight into the business and learn what is required to excel in retail management. This role involves completing specific sections of the Buckle Management Manual, providing weekly progress reports, and managing a specific product category to set and track sales goals.
What you'll do#
- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide consistent service.
- Check out and bag purchases while maintaining knowledge of exchange and return procedures.
- Prepare merchandise for alterations and assist with fitting room needs.
- Maintain and share knowledge of current sales, promotions, and store policies.
- Develop an understanding of Buckle's products, sales presentation, and merchandising processes.
- Perform operational tasks including opening and closing cash registers, balancing drawers, and processing deposits.
- Handle freight, re-merchandise displays, and complete price markdowns.
- Actively participate in monthly conference calls and complete required internship assignments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Psychology.
- No prior retail experience or training is required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Interest in a long-term commitment with the company.
- Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pounds throughout the store and backroom.
- Proficiency in or willingness to develop knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) procedures.
