About the role#
The Aerospace Corporation is hiring Software Systems Engineer and Acquisition Interns to join the Software Systems and Acquisition Department. You will work with teams focused on information system technologies, cyber security, software architecture, and data science to support Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers. This role involves contributing to the development of software-intensive systems for space programs.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard techniques and procedures to complete scientific or engineering tasks.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research or technical programs with academic partners.
- Conduct engineering studies, performance assessments, and market research.
- Research technical problems, test hypotheses, and prototype new approaches.
- Prepare and present technical information to a broad audience.
What you'll need#
- Full-time enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Availability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside of the university term.
- Ability to return to your degree program full-time after the internship.
- Experience developing software systems using modern methodologies like DevSecOps or Agile.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Submission of academic transcripts.
Preferred qualifications#
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Active security clearance.
- Experience with federal government acquisition programs, MBSE, digital engineering, or software quality processes.
- Current certifications in relevant technologies.
- Experience in government or commercial space operations.
- Familiarity with acquisition policies and space systems.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position located in either El Segundo, California, or Chantilly, Virginia.
- The pay range for this role is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.
