About the role#
The Guidance, Navigation, and Control team at Muon handles all spacecraft GNC, from sensor and actuator selection to system-level pointing analysis and flight software. As an intern, you will own a project from start to finish. This might involve performance analysis, creating new spacecraft operations tools, or developing new spacecraft functionality.
What you'll do#
- Conduct system-level GNC analysis to support development and on-orbit operations.
- Develop or improve GNC software features and capabilities.
- Build new tools to analyze, calibrate, and operate on-orbit GNC subsystems.
- Write, improve, and automate GNC performance and regression software tests.
What you'll need#
- Current or completed classwork in software engineering.
- Coursework in mechanical or aerospace engineering, applied physics, or EE/filtering/estimation.
- Programming skills in C++ or Python.
- An interest in spacecraft attitude estimation and control.
Location & details#
- This internship is based on-site in Mountain View, California.
- The term takes place during Summer 2027, with dates ranging between May and September depending on your university schedule.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- This role requires access to export-controlled information, so you must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible under U.S. government export regulations.
