About the role#
As a Product Security Engineering intern, you will work within our Vehicle Software department to protect the systems powering our products. You will analyze system services, operating systems, networks, and applications from a security perspective. This role focuses on identifying vulnerabilities, recommending patches, and participating in security audits and risk analysis to ensure our platforms remain secure.
What you'll do#
- Ensure Tesla products meet high security standards.
- Conduct vulnerability tests and risk assessments on source code and Linux devices.
- Audit embedded code to identify security vulnerabilities.
- Help design a secure connected vehicle architecture.
- Work with internal teams, vendors, and external suppliers to drive remediation.
- Prioritize threats and compare mitigation strategies through risk assessments.
- Assist design teams in developing secure automotive systems.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong investigative and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with CTF, secure architecture design, or writing secure source code.
- Deep understanding of fuzzing, static analysis, sandboxing, and defending against common vulnerabilities.
- Technical experience with Go, Rust, C, C++, x86, ARM, CAN, cryptography, or exploit development.
- Proficiency in software development and auditing code.
- Automotive and hardware experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May or June through August).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $38.00 - $53.00 per hour plus benefits.
