About the role#
Terafab is building a vertically integrated semiconductor factory. This facility brings logic, memory, packaging, test, and lithography mask production under one roof. Process engineering turns this technology into reality. You will own ion implantation processes for edge-inference processors, space-hardened data center AI chips, and high-bandwidth memory. You will develop and optimize dopant implantation, profile control, and stress engineering while balancing junction performance, thermal budget, defectivity, and integration constraints.
What you'll do#
- Develop and qualify high-current, medium-current, and low-energy ion implantation processes for logic and memory devices.
- Optimize implant parameters including dopant species, energy, dose, tilt, rotation, beam current, and damage engineering.
- Qualify implant tools from installation to production readiness, including beam calibration, uniformity, and chamber matching.
- Analyze implant processes, dopant distribution, and device performance using physics-based approaches.
- Perform root cause analysis for profile shifts, device parameter variation, and yield issues.
- Establish inline metrology and control strategies to drive systematic yield improvement.
- Drive development of next-generation implantation techniques, such as plasma doping and advanced activation strategies for sub-2nm nodes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience with ion implanters and implant metrology.
- Proficiency in design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis.
- Ability to work proactively across diffusion, thin films, integration, and equipment engineering teams.
- Strong collaboration skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Terms: Fall 2026, Winter 2027, or Spring 2027.
- Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks.
- Eligibility: This program is for students currently enrolled in an academic program.
