About the role#
This summer internship offers a hands-on opportunity to apply materials science and engineering principles to analyze our products. You will work on optimizing components for power, fuel, air, aftertreatment, and battery systems. You will contribute to design, manufacturing, and quality goals by evaluating materials and processes.
What you'll do#
- Conduct mechanical, physical, and compositional testing on products.
- Perform spectroscopy, microstructural evaluation, and non-destructive inspection on parts or fluids.
- Work cross-functionally on material selection, failure analysis, and characterization.
- Apply surface engineering principles to improve wear, strength, and corrosion resistance.
- Investigate product or manufacturing problems and recommend resolutions.
- Communicate analysis results to stakeholders to support project advancement.
- Utilize tools such as SEM, optical microscopy, chemical spectroscopy, and process simulation software.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university pursuing an Engineering degree.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.
- Knowledge of materials science, engineering, and analytical chemistry principles.
- Familiarity with industry standards.
- A willingness to learn from team members.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks.
- Currently residing within the continental United States.
