About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in fraud operations within a fintech and travel platform. You will work on the Travel business, which includes hotels, flights, and activities. This role sits at the intersection of customer experience, risk, and revenue. You will work with Fraud Analysts and Operations leaders to protect customers and the business while building investigative and analytical skills.
What you'll do#
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into customer accounts and transactions to drive case decisions.
- Use data mining to identify fraud trends and emerging risk vectors.
- Monitor fraud dashboards and real-time alerts to mitigate financial losses.
- Collaborate with partners in Payments, Customer Support, and Product to execute fraud and chargeback initiatives.
- Lead special projects to scale travel fraud playbooks, internal tooling, and reporting frameworks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Criminology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant professional or internship experience is preferred.
- Strong aptitude for data analysis or investigative work.
- Ability to identify patterns and anomalies within complex datasets.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of ownership.
- Exposure to SQL or BI tools is an advantage.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4, 2027 to April 30, 2027).
- Modality: Remote, with a requirement to maintain a minimum 6-hour overlap with Eastern Time.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Allowances: Includes a $300 home office setup allowance, $25 weekly UberEats allowance, $300 learning and development allowance, and a $120 fitness and wellness allowance.
