About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Stratus, you will work alongside engineers and designers on HVAC, plumbing, process, and fuel systems. You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical design, load calculations, and project delivery while contributing to active assignments under the guidance of experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Prepare mechanical drawings, calculations, equipment research, and project reports.
- Support the design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical systems.
- Attend project meetings, site visits, and field observations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and electrical designs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, HVAC, or other relevant engineering topics.
- A basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and either AutoCAD or Revit.
- Experience through internships, co-ops, or previous design projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with energy modeling, load calculation, or equipment selection software is a plus.
- Involvement in professional organizations such as ASHRAE or ASME is a plus.

- This role is based in Henderson, North Carolina.
- This is an on-site, full-time internship.
- The position follows a rolling term.
