About the role#
Therma is seeking a Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in San Jose, California. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical construction engineering by supporting our team on various projects.
What you'll do#
- Support Mechanical and Process Engineers with the planning, design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects.
- Assist in conducting engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical evaluations.
- Research industry standards, codes, equipment specifications, and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
- Assist with the development and review of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and other software.
- Support the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, piping, utility, and process systems.
- Participate in field visits, site assessments, and construction observations.
- Assist with equipment selection, system sizing, and preparation of operating procedures.
- Coordinate with project teams, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Review and organize project data and drawings.
- Contribute to project meetings, team discussions, and problem-solving activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or other engineering design software is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical information, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in both team and independent environments.
- A valid driver's license.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and professional integrity.
