About the role#
Therma is looking for a Project Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This role is based in San Jose, California, and requires on-site attendance. You will gain experience in mechanical construction project management, covering everything from pre-construction to job closeout. You will work alongside experienced professionals to develop your technical and organizational skills.
What you'll do#
- Support pre-construction by analyzing specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and reading plans.
- Review material and subcontractor quotes to assist with bid preparation.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to track project scope, schedules, and deliverables.
- Manage material ordering and procurement tracking to ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Document project meetings, track action items, and record key decisions.
- Assist with job cost review and tracking.
- Participate in team meetings and cross-functional coordination.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree program.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver's license.
- A working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
