About the role#
The Utah State Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapy Intern in Provo to provide operational, clinical, and logistical support to our physical therapy staff. This role supports the team in enhancing the physical mobility and functional independence of patients in our inpatient facility. This position is paid at an hourly rate of $15.97.
What you'll do#
- Assist physical therapists in carrying out individualized exercise programs for residents.
- Provide compassionate assistance during positioning, therapeutic exercise, ambulation, and range-of-motion routines.
- Maintain records and take notes as required.
- Provide clinical setup and logistical support for the therapy team.
- Sanitize, inspect, and maintain therapeutic equipment, treatment rooms, and clinic areas according to infection-control standards.
- Keep an organized inventory of physical therapy supplies, orthotics, and clinical mobility aids.
What you'll need#
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with mentally ill individuals.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy and body mechanics.
- Ability to work comfortably in a hospital environment.
- Preferred: CPR or First Aid certification.
- Preferred: Prior experience in physical therapy or a medical setting.
- Preferred: Ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Provo, Utah.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:40 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
- Requirements: You must pass a criminal history background check. The facility is a smoke-free campus, and tobacco or e-cigarette use is prohibited. This position requires physical exertion, including the ability to stand, bend, and lift items up to 50 pounds.
