About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in Okemos, Michigan, this full-time role offers an opportunity to work within our Community Development Group. You will gain exposure to diverse projects including land development, roadway design, park and recreation design, traffic engineering, and utility design.
What you'll do#
- Learn from experienced professionals and ask questions to grow your technical knowledge.
- Prepare civil engineering plans, reports, specifications, and designs.
- Assist with CAD drafting and the preparation of construction documents.
- Accompany staff on onsite construction inspections to monitor design compliance.
- Attend public and client meetings alongside team members.
- Help procure necessary permits and approvals from local and state agencies.
- Coordinate with construction staff, clients, and project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering.
- A strong interest in community development engineering.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and follow direction.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Forma.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Coursework or exposure to areas such as planning, design, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental engineering, surveying, or construction management.
