About the role#
FREOPP is hiring a full-time Policy Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This role supports policy research focused on safety net reform, workforce development, child welfare, and housing. You will work as part of the Koch Internship Program, a paid experiential learning program managed by Stand Together Fellowships.
What you'll do#
- Conduct primary and secondary research to assist in producing research products.
- Analyze public policy and prepare research memos and background information.
- Create charts and graphic displays for research projects.
- File FOIA requests with government agencies.
- Coordinate small and major long-term research projects.
- Assist the Senior Vice President of Policy Research, Executive Vice President, and President with specific projects.
- Provide feedback and edits on the work of scholars.
- Manage internal outreach for scholars' work and coordinate events or gatherings.
- Handle administrative responsibilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- 0 to 4 years of experience in public policy research, economics, political science, or a related field.
- A strong commitment to the FREOPP mission.
- Data skills including proficiency in Excel and at least one other platform like R, Python, or Stata.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to receive direct feedback and incorporate it quickly.
- Capacity to identify and complete important work on time.
- A collaborative, creative, and hardworking approach.
