About the role#
We are looking for a Backend Intern to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on data-intensive distributed systems that power our core advertising platform. Our systems handle millions of requests every second and store terabytes of data. This is a full-time, remote position for students in Computer Science or Computer Engineering programs.
What you'll do#
- Build distributed, real-time micro-services using Go.
- Work with large data sets and databases including Aerospike, Elasticsearch, Redis, ScyllaDB, Redshift, TiDB, and MariaDB.
- Develop software that integrates with messaging queues like Kafka, SQS, and Kinesis.
- Write code that is performance-efficient and optimized for memory usage.
- Collaborate with team members to design scalable, well-tested, and documented software.
- Participate in code reviews and work across teams with product managers and designers.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and contribute to technical planning.
What you'll need#
- Experience building distributed micro-services, preferably in Go.
- Ability to write scalable, test-driven software.
- A desire to take responsibility for your project work.
- It is an asset if you have experience with SQL-based databases and writing complex reporting queries.
- Working with a designated mentor for technical and career guidance is part of this role.
